About Us

Overview

Since 1967, Merritt Properties has remained true to our company’s mission: Creating homes for businesses. We are unique because we build for the long-term and manage all of our properties internally. As a full-service commercial real estate firm, we are committed to exceeding the expectations of our customers, partners and vendors in all of our business dealings. Trust, integrity, respect, and placing value on lasting relationships over short-term gain are the essential components of our business. We take pride in providing the highest quality properties available, maintaining optimal customer service and giving back to the communities where we do business.

Understanding that our customers typically spend more time in their offices than in their own homes, we work closely with each customer to ensure we provide a space that meets the goals and needs of their business, allowing their company to grow and flourish. Our dedicated team is fully available to respond rapidly and personably to customers’ needs and challenges, providing all customers with personalized and flexible service.

As an established market leader with nearly 16 million square feet in more than 70 locations, we own and manage more commercial space than any privately held developer in the Baltimore/Washington area and have an unmatched reputation for our commitment to our customers. Merritt provides an extensive catalog of prime locations and choices guaranteed to meet every business’ needs, including Class A office, flex, warehouse, distribution, retail, and build-to-suit.

With a commitment to environmentally sound construction practices, Merritt builds high-quality, energy-efficient buildings, and strives to continually improve new and existing properties using the most advanced, eco-friendly technologies. Utilizing the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System, Merritt has completed two LEED-registered projects and has several more in development in the Baltimore metropolitan area and Northern Virginia. Merritt currently employs seven LEED Accredited Professionals and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Building Institute.

Merritt has also established a reputation as one of the most philanthropic corporations in the Baltimore-Washington community and is dedicated to serving the communities in which we build. With a special interest in charities that support women and children with special needs, Merritt has given both financial and hands-on support to dozens of local charities, including the Living Classrooms Foundation, The Children’s Guild, Special Olympics, and the House of Ruth Maryland.
