MERRITT PROPERTIES’ PRESIDENT HONORED AS INFLUENTIAL MARYLANDER
Award honors his leadership in commercial real estate and dedication to the community

BALTIMORE, Md. — Merritt Properties, a Baltimore-based full-service commercial real estate firm, is proud to announce that its president, Scott Dorsey, has been recognized by The Daily Record in its annual list of Influential Marylanders. The Daily Record is Maryland’s premiere business publication that targets the corporate decision makers and investors in the legal and business communities. The award honors members of Maryland’s business community for their overall accomplishments and leadership in their fields, bringing continued success to the region.

Dorsey has been with Merritt Properties since 1972, holding many positions throughout his tenure. During this time, Merritt has become the largest private commercial real estate developer in the region, offering an extensive portfolio, an unmatched reputation for customer service and recognition as one of the most philanthropic corporations in the Baltimore-Washington area. Most recently, as an evolution of their long-standing commitment to providing high-quality and energy-efficient properties, Merritt has also become an area leader in green building.

As president of the company, Dorsey oversees Merritt’s daily operations while focusing on strategic planning and the company’s long-term goals. He serves as the point person for Merritt’s interface with financial institutions, government agencies, economic development organizations and industry groups, including the Maryland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore Board of Directors, Maryland Businesses for Responsive Government, the Board of Trustees for Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, and the Board of Directors of Young Life – Urban Baltimore. He also maintains memberships with the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the Urban Land Institute.

“We’re very proud of Scott for being named an ‘Influential Marylander,” a title he certainly deserves,” said Robb Merritt, vice president of Merritt Properties. “His commitment to Merritt Properties has played a large role in making the company as successful as it is today, and his dedication to the Baltimore-area community is admirable. Scott ensures that Merritt’s mission to provide the highest quality properties, optimal customer service, and community service to those in need is demonstrated in all our activities.”

This is the third year The Daily Record has released its list of Influential Marylanders. The list celebrates a wide range of people in various industries who play a role in positively influencing others. Past honorees include Benjamin Carson, Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Medicine; Nancy Grasmick, State Superintendent of Schools, Maryland Department of Education; and, Michael Phelps, Olympic swimmer.
