Just as we believe that your success is our success, we know that we’re only as healthy as the communities we serve. That’s why we have long been known as one of the most generous corporate givers in the Baltimore area. With a focus on organizations that serve the immediate needs of disadvantaged women and children, we contribute both hands-on and financial support to dozens of local programs.

While we are proud of the philanthropic support we provide as a company, we are most proud of the charitable work that Merritt employees perform throughout the year. Our employees have wrapped Christmas gifts for the Salvation Army, made repairs to the Bea Gaddy Family Center, collected clothing for Paul’s Place, built benches for Living Classrooms, walked to raise money for the American Cancer Society, and much more.

This generosity of spirit is Leroy Merritt’s greatest legacy to our company, and we are honored to carry on this tradition.

Applying for a Charitable Grant

Merritt Properties’ charitable giving focuses on providing for the immediate needs – food, clothing, shelter and some special educational services – for disadvantaged women and children in the area. We seek out services and programs that make a direct impact on these groups, rather than capital campaigns and operational grants.

To apply for a grant, organizations must be a 501(c)3 and have demonstrated a proven measurement of successfully helping the Baltimore metropolitan or Northern Virginia communities.

Your request should detail your organizational history, the specific program for which you are seeking support and specific measurements of success and/or success stories.  Please also include a budget for the program and your organization’s most recent IRS form 990.
