Merritt Properties to Redevelop Canton Athletic Club Site

Today, Merritt Properties revealed conceptual drawings of a proposed two-building complex along Boston Street in Canton. Merritt presented the project at this morning’s Urban Design & Architectural Review Panel (UDARP).

Phase I of the project includes a seven-level garage that will include an indoor pool on the first level, a rooftop leisure pool, and five levels of additional parking. The project is prompted by the high demand for parking at one of the busiest Merritt Athletic Club locations. Merritt is hoping to start this phase of the project during the fourth quarter of 2015. It should take approximately a year to finish. The club will remain open throughout the project.

At this point, Phase II will include a new twelve-story building with retail on the first level, followed by six levels of parking and then five levels of office space. Timing for the office building will depend upon market conditions once Phase I is complete.

All designs and drawings are purely conceptual at this point in the development process. Merritt will continue to provide updates as the project moves forward.
